What are the factors that affecting the springback of metal stamping parts for autos?
The springback of metal stamping parts is a difficult problem for auto stamping parts, and there is no perfect way to resolve the problem at present. So we need to further study the springback problem of stamping parts. What exactly are the reasons affecting the springback of the auto metal stamping part?
 
1. Material Property
There are stamping parts with different strength on the car body, from ordinary sheet to high strength sheet, and different plates have different yield strength. The higher the yield strength of the plate is, the more easily the springback will happen.
 
2. Material Thickness
In the process of forming, the thickness of the sheet has a great impact on the bending performance. The increasing thickness of the plate can gradually reduce the occurrence of springback. With the increasing of the thickness, plastic deformation material as well as elastic recovery deformation also increase, resulting in less occurrence of springback.
 
3. Parts Shape
Different parts have different springback, and there should be an extra process for those parts with complicated shapes in order to prevent springback caused by improper shaping. Springback can easily happen for some parts with special shapes, for example, parts with U shape. We must consider springback compensation matters when it comes to the analysis of the forming process.
 
4. Blank Holder Force
Blank holder force punching process is an important process. We can adjust the flow direction of the material and improve the distribution of the internal stress by constantly optimizing the blank holder force. Increasing the blanking force allows the part to be stretched more fully, especially the sidewall of the part and R angle position. if If the part is fully formed, it will reduce the internal and external stress difference and the occurrence of springback.
 
5. Draw Bead
Draw bead is are widely used among today’s technologies. Setting the drawing position reasonably can effectively change the direction of the material flow and distribute the feeding resistance of the binder surface so as to improve the material formability. The arrangement of draw dead on parts which easily cause springback can make parts fully formed, and have uniform stress distribution to reduce the occurrence of springback.
